Sep 01, 2005 · A709 Gr.50 vs A588. By CHGuilford Date 09-01-2005 10:15. A588 is equivalent to A709 Gr 50W. The A709 Gr 50 is equivalent to A572 Gr 50. The answer is yes you can, unless you are working with a contract requiring otherwise. I normally run D1.5 PQRs with A588/A709-50W so that the test will qualify the lesser grades as well. ASTM A709 - SSABASTM A709. The ASTM A709 is the Standard Specification for Structural Steel for Bridges and encompasses carbon, high-strength low-alloy, and quenched and tempered alloy steels used as structural plates in the construction of bridges. SSAB offers the following five grades of A709; 36, 50, 50W, HPS 50W and HPS 70W.

A709 grade 50w steel angle features & benefits:1:Excellent strength to weight ratio for structural applications where weight is an issue. 2:Stronger than mild carbon steel angle. 3:Ideal for steel building and structures where extra strength is desired. We produce and export hot rolled and laser fused A709 grade 50w steel angle throughout ASTM Structural Steel Standards Infra-Metals Co.The composition of A709 ensures strength, long lifespans, and resistance to the harshest outdoor conditions. An Ideal Strength-to-Weight Ratio. The A709 alloy, which is composed of iron, manganese, carbon, and other elements, maintains an excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
ASTM A709-50W. ASTM A709-50W is a standard specification for structural steel in bridges. ASTM A709-50W covers high strength, low allow steel structural shapes, plates and bars. The atmospheric corrosion resistance of this steel in most environments is substantially better than carbon steel with or without copper addition. CSA G40.21 50W / 350W Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel CSA G40.21 50W / 350W. A high-strength, low-alloy steel plate grade specified within G40.21 of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). This grade is utilized in a variety of structural applications. It is also referred to as 350W, which is its metric designation. This material is also available as Charpy tested when referenced with a "T
A709 Grade 36, Grade 50, Grade 50W. A709 is the specification used for steel plate used in the manufacture of bridges. Chapel Steel stocks A709 Grade 36, A709 Grade 50 and A709 Grade 50W. CSA G40.21 44W. Chapel Steel stocks a generous supply of Canadian steel plate in grade G40.21 44W. 44W is sometimes referred to with its metric designations FAQ's:Steel Grades- Type of Steel- Steel supplier Identifying the mechanical properties of the specification A709 is determined by combining one of seven different grade specifications such as Grades 36, 50, 50S, HPS 50W, HPS 70W and HPS 100W noted after the A709 to establish various strength requirements. The Grade specification is directly relative to the minimum yield strength requirements.
A709 Grade 36 50 50W A709 is mainly used in the manufacturing of bridges. Because bridges are exposed to the elements, these grades are often specified according to Charpy impact tests specific to the different climatic regions where the bridge will be constructed. The preferred structural steel is unpainted weathering steel. Two grades are available; ASTM A709 Grade 50W and Grade 70 HPS - 70W. This steel eliminates the need for painting because the steel weathers to form a protective patina, or thin layer of protective oxide coating, that prevents the steel from further rusting.
